7 Natural Remedies for Genital Itching

Genital itching is extreme uncomfortable and embarrassing when you are not at home, and it can also be distracting when you are trying to work or perform normal tasks. There are several reasons for this annoying condition. Genital itch in women can be caused by a yeast infection or possibly chemicals in the composition of pads or tampons. Itching in men is most commonly called jock itch. All of the following suggestions contain ingredients that are totally natural and do not contain chemicals.

Top Home Remedies For Genital Itching

Apple Cider Vinegar For Women

Apple cider vinegar has excellent antibacterial and antifungal properties. Stir two tablespoons of vinegar into a full cup of water. Wash the vagina twice a day for 2-3 days. The vinegar makes the vagina acidic and the bacteria cannot thrive for long.

Cold Compress For Women

Genital itch is especially troublesome at night when you are trying to sleep. Not only is it very unpleasant, but the interruption of your sleep could add other health problems. At night you can apply ice cubes wrapped in a cloth or an ice bag directly to the vagina. This might not be comfortable in itself, but it will allow you to get a little sleep.

Salt Bath For Women

Salt has antibacterial properties that can effectively stop itching and remove bacteria. You can wash the vagina with a salt water solution, or you may just fill the bathtub half full of water and then add a half a cup of salt. While sitting, open your vaginal walls using fingers so the saline water is able to reach the inside and kill the bacterial.

Yogurt For Women

Yogurt contains a good bacteria, a probiotic which overwhelms and eliminates the bad bacteria in the body. Yogurt that is made from goat’s or sheep’s milk is an even better remedy for vaginal itch than that made from cow’s milk. You either eat the yogurt or even apply it directly to the vaginal area which is, believe it or not, even more effective. You may use a tampon for this purpose. Soak a tampon with yogurt and leave it in the vagina for a few hours. Frozen yogurt will produce instant relief. Also, eating yogurt every day will keep you healthy in a lot of other ways as well.

Tea Tree Oil For Men

Tea tree oil has natural antifungal properties that can treat Jock Itch and other types of skin infections. It also has deep cleansing elements which help stop itchiness and inflammation that Jock Itch causes.  Use a cotton ball to apply tea tree oil to skin twice daily. Use for 3-4 days until the symptoms have completely disappeared.  If the application causes a burning sensation, use a mix of four to five drops of tea tree oil in one tablespoon of coconut oil and apply it.

Underwear For Men and Women

Avoid tight underwear that allows the area to become a favorable environment for the growth of funguses and bacteria. If you are exercising and sweating this can make it worse or even cause an infection. A weakened immune system condition – such as the flu – can also put a strain on the area and cause excess perspiration.

Rubbing Alcohol For Men

Another natural remedy is rubbing alcohol. It works well since it kills the fungus which causes the infection. Dip a cotton ball in a mixture that is 90% alcohol. Dab it on the affected area, but you will not need to dry the area since the alcohol will evaporate. Apply twice a day until infection is gone.
